Suzette Stokes Sims, Ph.D. Licensed Psychologist

Have you thought counseling might help you or someone you care about? Are you struggling in your marriage? Could you use some assistance with your children or your teen? Have you been feeling down, tired, or depressed? Feeling stressed or anxious? Coping with loss after loss? Have relationship issues? Need direction with your career? Counseling may help you gain insight into your situation and discover a new solution.

I have experience treating a diverse range of concerns including, but not limited to, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, behavior problems, adjustment issues, grief/loss issues, and parenting concerns. I work with couples and individuals. I also provide Christian counseling to those who prefer it. I am also available to speak to groups and teach them about the various issues that lead to the need for counseling services.

I desire to help bring light into the lives of others and I see myself as a tool to be used in order to help others live richer, more meaningful lives. I look forward to the opportunity to meet with you.

You may reach me at 610-363-2088 ext. 1.

Please note, at this time I have office hours between the hours of 8am-2:15pm. I cannot accommodate evening appointments. I would be happy to meet with you during lunch hours if you have a flexible schedule. I can also provide a school note for your child if they need one.

Please view my short video on the types of counseling I like to incorporate in therapy.

The Serenity Prayer: “God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; the courage to change the things I can; and the wisdom to know the difference.” (Reinhold Niebuhr)

I believe that life is full of dialectics (two opposing truths) that need to be accepted and balanced in one’s life to maintain a harmony between peace of mind, peace of heart and peace within relationships. In my role as a therapist, I help my clients help themselves to achieve or to restore this balance. My therapeutic approach is eclectic and it incorporates: Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT), Reality Therapy’s Choice Theory, and Emotion-Focused Couples Therapy. These evidence-based theories help to decrease negative emotions and restore harmony within relationships. I have experience working with children (10 years and older), adolescents, adults, and couples. I help people who are trying to decrease symptoms of Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, and other mood disorders; I also treat clients with Borderline Personality Disorder, Co-Occurring Disorders, Substance Use Disorders, Adjustment Disorders, Grief/Loss issues including separation/divorce. If you are seeking Christian Counseling, I have experience helping clients who like to emphasize incorporating their faith into their treatment. Over the past 7 years, I have aimed at providing a therapeutic experience that exudes an unconditional positive regard and non-judgmental energy within each session, where my clients will feel the freedom to explore their various emotional challenges and I aim at collaboratively setting goals with the hopes of helping them restore their personal serenity.

You may reach me at 610-363-2088 ext. 9 .

As a Licensed Therapist, Board Certified Art Therapist, and Certified Trauma Specialist I provide individual and family therapy. I specialize in working with children and adolescents who are struggling with anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, PTSD, trauma, abuse, divorce, grief and loss, and parent-child conflict. I strive to create an environment in which children and adolescents are able to work through difficult emotions, express their thoughts and feelings, and learn new ways of coping.

“The process of drawing, painting or constructing is a complex one in which the child brings together diverse elements of his environment to make a meaningful whole. In the process of selecting, interpreting and reforming these elements, he has given us more than a picture, he has given us a part of himself.” (Lowenfeld, 1947)
